Just a random thought

What you get out of something depends on how much you put into it.
Putting in that few hours a week will make an enormous difference at the end of the semester. This is something that i need to try to remember. If i just skim over a certain exercise, then it shouldn't be a surprise to me that i suck at that aspect.
This not only applies to practice, but to everything else as well. If someone asks you how you are and you reply "good" or whatever, that's all dandy, but if that is all you ever say to someone, you are not going to ever have a meaningful friendship with them.
Sorta random and i don't really know how to expand on that without going on and on, but just something that i think everyone should think about.

Pep band

So we had our first pep band for basketball tonight. Basketball is so boring...I think the game could be much cooler if live tigers were released or killer mascots. In high school PE we learned about the origins of basketball. okay Mr YMCA dude that came up with it, just letting you know that your pre-league pre-official version was probably more fun. Anyone ever play Footloop? Look it up. Footloop is fun, lets replace stupid Basketball with it.
I was determined to be in a bad mood tonight at the game i guess. So thats probably why i was so bored. Doesn't help that my chops are bothering me. I think i overdid it the other day when practicing high range stuff. Whoopsies.
On the way back from the game, i was just thinking about how random Nebraska weather is. I love it. Three snowstorms in 2 months then a few weeks later it'll just rain. Which will probably freeze giving us a nice skating rink of a campus tomorrow. Then in a mere 3 or 4 months it'll get up to 110 degrees and we will wish it was this weather again. Only not cause i like the summer no matter how hot it gets.
Enough random rambling. Watch out for those killer trees as you walk around. They like to pelt with ice.

And So It Begins!

Hey everyone!
I'm really excited for this semester to get underway and to get back into the swing of things. More than anything I'm worried about getting good practice habits into place, because i know i have not been practicing nearly as much as i should. So i think this blog and the practice journal we have to do will help keep me on top of things. In addition to those two things, anyone have any helpful tidbits on getting enough beneficial practices each week? Its not so much lack of motivation to go practice, but lack of motivation to get over to FA to do it, to be honest. Anyway, by the time anyone reads this I'll have come over to the dark side and will be a Music Industry major. Ten hours a week of practice seems a little daunting coming from the habits i had last semester...
Anyway, my habit of rambling when i don't know what to say, so i'll wrap it up. Here's to an awesome semester!
